Box Score In her first game as head coach of the Hamline women's soccer team,
Emily Cripe turned to an old hand to get the team going. With the Pipers trailing 1-0 and time running short, Arendje Louter found the back of the net for the season's first goal. It was enough to give Hamline a 1-1 double overtime tie at Lewis & Clark in the season opener.
After a scoreless first half, L & C struck first, scoring 89 seconds into the second stanza. The Pipers, bolstered by a healthy contingent of western based players, attacked in earnest. It paid off when Louter, a junior from Seattle, Wash. took a pass from
Jordan Roderick-Fried and knotted the game. It was her 16th career goal in 36 games, which places her sixth non the school's all-time list for goal scorers. The Pipers dominated statistically through a pair of 10-minutes overtime sessions, outshooting the Pioneers, 3-0. For the game, HU finished with a 12-8 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Louter, who tied for the team lead in scoring last year with nine, was the top shooter with four attempts.
