2/25/2018 3:50:00 PM

It was about as good a way as you could imagine to get ready for the league championships. The HU gymnastics team passed its last test with flying colors in a 184.775-179.525 defeat of Gustavus Adolphus at Hutton Arena Sunday afternoon.

The Pipers outscored in all four events, including a 1-2-3-4-5 performance in the Floor Exercise. Four different Pipers finished first in their respective event. Alyssa Huch took the vault with a 9.475 score. Sydney Tribbett was second at 9.425 and Caitlin Cooper was next at 9.400. HU went 1-2-3 as well on the Uneven Parallel Bars with Morgan Bradford showing the way at 9.275. Huch was a close second (9.250) and Kelsey Ranneklev took third at 9.125. Meghan Webb (pictured) and Lydia Ingram balanced the Beam equally well for a 9.350 score to tie for first.

HU has been strong in the Floor Exercise all year and Sunday was no different. Alexa Vorderbruggen topped the field with a sterling 9.700 performance. Tribbett was right behind her at 9.650. Webb came in third at 9.600. Cooper and Darby Slater turned in 9.500 scores.

The Pipers now turn their attention to the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional meet Sunday, March 4 at Gustavus Adolphus. The meet begins at 2:00 p.m.
