It was a tall order out of the chute. The women's tennis team dropped their season opener to powerful Carleton, 9-0, Thursday at Lakeville, MInn. Ali Kopiecki, a freshman, put up a stiff fight at No. 1 singles. The Andover, Minn. native won her first set, 6-4, but surrendered by 7-6 and 12-10 scores. No other Piper won a set in the match against the perennial power. 

In No. 1 doubles, Kopiecki and freshman teammate Ella Seehafer lost an 8-2 decision.

Hamline will take on Wis-Superior Sunday, February 11 at Wooddale Tennis Club (2122 Woodale Drive, St. Paul, MN 55125)
