Box Score 2 Blair Tommelein was on the run Friday night for the Hamline softball team -- and there wasn't much St. Olaf could do to stop her.
The sophomore shortstop was on base seven times -- and stole five bases for the Pipers, who dropped a pair of games to the Oles at the Augsburg Dome Friday night to fall to 2-2 in MIAC play (9-9 overall) on the season.
In the first game, the Pipers were two outs from a come-from-behind 3-2 win when St. Olaf tied the game with a home run. The game would eventually stretch to 10 innings with HU ending up on the short end of a 6-5 count. HU trailed 2-1 in the sixth when
Abbie Annen singled, stole second and rode home on
Megan Rubbelke's double.
Angela Wollmuth's two out RBI single pushed the Pipers into the lead only to see STO tie the game in the seventh and then score three times in the 10th.
Aubree Douglas got two of those back quickly with a two RBI home run but that was as close as it would get.
In the second game, Tommelein (21) had a pair of hits and a walk and scored the lone Hamline run in the third inning, riding home on a Rubbelke RBI single. Her five thefts on the night moved her into the team lead with eight.
Hamline is scheduled to make the trek to Moorhead to face Concordia on Sunday, April 15. The doubleheader is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
