Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 It took a while but the Hamline baseball team got their offense going when they needed it to earn a split of a doubleheader with Macalester Saturday night. Jake Dujmovic lifted a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to drive in the winning run in a 5-4 victory that evened the Pipers' MIAC record at 2-2 (9-11 overall). It offset the first game result, a 3-2 loss.

The poor fields in the Twin Cities sent the two neighbors to St. John's' field in Collegeville. Hamline was trailing 4-2 in the sixth inning of Game 2 when Nolan Schoonveld lined a two out, two RBI single to tie the score. In the first extra frame, Cullen Buck singled, stole second base, moved to third on Hunter Messerschmidt's sacrifice bunt and scampered home when Dujmovic lifted a fly ball to center field for his second RBI of the game.

Zach Smith, working his third inning on the mound, put down the Scots in the bottom of the inning to improve to 2-3 on the season. The senior allowed just one hit and fanned six batters in his stint.

In Game 1, HU took an early 2-1 lead when Dujmovic squeezed in a run and Elliot Engen tripled home another in the second inning. Macalester scored solo runs in the fourth and fifth frames to take the lead. Hamline put two runners on bases in the seventh but could not even the score.

The Pipers will be back in Collegeville Sunday night to face Bethel (16-4, 3-1 MIAC). The doubleheader will begin at 7:00 p.m.
