4/25/2018 7:28:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kira Krueger (pictured with ball) stretched her hitting streak to four games in a row for the Hamline softball team, which dropped both ends of a doubleheader at St. Thomas, 7-3 and 4-0, Wednesday. Krueger had two of the Pipers' 11 hits on the day. HU dropped to 13-15 overall and 6-8 in the MIAC with the verdict. The latter mark has them in sixth place -- the final postseason place -- with less than a week to go in the regular season.

In game 1, UST jumped to a quick 3-0 lead in the opening inning. HU got a run back in the third inning when Sydney Fransiscus singled and eventually rode home on an Abbie Annen single. In the sixth, HU used three hits and a wild pitch for a pair of runs. Alex Molloy went the distance on the mound and took the loss.

The Pipers couldn't get much going in the nightcap. Krueger, Aubree Douglas, Ramsey Hare and April Jacobs had the hits in the 4-0 setback. Douglas, who saw her eight game hitting streak ended in the first game, is second in the MIAC batting race with a .459 average.

Hamline will play its first games this year at Meredith Field this Friday, April 27 against Macalester. The twinbill begins at 3:30 p.m.
