The Hamline women's tennis team closed out the season on a winning note with a 5-4 decision over Wis-River Falls Sunday afternoon. The narrow win wiped away the memory of a 9-0 loss to powerful Gustavus Adolphus earlier in the day.
Ali Kopiecki finished her first year strong with a pair of 6-1 wins at No. 1 singles. Earlier, Kopiecki and
Megan Anderson jumped to a fast lead and won their No. 1 doubles match, 8-2.
Ella Seehafer won her singles match in straight sets while
Claire Witt needed a 10-6 tiebreaker to claim her singles battle. Seehafer and
Natalie Pieterick provided the other point with an 8-4 decision at No. 2 doubles.Â
Against the Gusties, Kopiecki fought hard before giving way by 7-6 and 6-3 scores. Anderson also had a good showing, losing the first set by 6-4 before falling in the second, 6-1.
HU finished the season 9-10 overall, 1-9 in the MIAC. The nine wins is the most bhy a HU women's tennis team since the league started recording wins and losses in 2002.
There were no seniors and just two juniors on coach
