Box Score 2 The final games of the 2018 Hamline softball season offered a look ahead to 2019.
The Pipers finished on an up note, defeating Bethel by 5-2 scores in both games of the doubleheader in Arden Hills Tuesday. The heroes of the day offered a positive glimpse to the future of the program.
In Game 1, sophomore
Kira Krueger went 2-for-2, scored twice and knocked in a run. She also went the first five innings, giving up two runs on nine hits to earn the win and finish the season with a 6-8 mark. Freshman infielders
Angela Wollmuth and
Blair Tommelein each went 2-for-4 with a RBI.
In the season finale, head coach
Jim Rubbelke went to his bench with positive results.
Becca Liebelt, a sophomore, had two hits, a home run and a RBI and
Cora Stallcup, a freshman, had two hits and a RBI. That was plenty for pitcher
Sabrina Warden, a junior, who scattered seven hits to earn the complete game win and finish the season with a 5-4 mark.
Hamline, which loses three players to graduation (
Abbie Annen,
Sydney Fransiscus,
Roxanne Reinfeld), finished the season 17-19 overall, 10-12 in the MIAC.
