Gabrielle Brown etched her name in the Hamline record books Saturday with a sixth place finish at the NCAA D-III Outdoor Track/Field Championships in La Crosse, Wis. Despite sweltering conditions, the St. Paul, Minn. junior blitzed to a sixth place finish in the 100 Hurdles to earn a second All-American honor for the women's track/field team. Brown joins
Jessie Juenemann, who was eighth in the Discus on the opening day of the meet as the newest members of the Hamline Women's T&F All-American Club.
She is the first women's runner to earn an AA honor since Keidra Anderson did so in the 5,000 Meters in 2006. It also marks the first time since 2013 that Hamline comes home with a pair of AA awards on the women's side. (That year, Becky Culp - now
Becky Springman and an assistant coach for Track & Field here, won the Discus and was third in the Shot Put.)
Running in Lane 9, Brown broke fast and kept up the pace throughout to finish in 14.361 seconds. That was an improvement of .3 from her qualifying time and just .001 off her winning time at the MIAC Championships earlier this month.
The Pipers gain three points for Brown's efforts to finish the meet with four. Hamline is currently the top MIAC school with points in the Women's meet.
