Hamline's gymnastics team scored 183.500 points and finished second to the host University of Minnesota at the Best of Minnesota meet Saturday at Maturi Pavillon. It was a two point increase from the season opening effort against Wis-Oshkosh January 6.
The Pipers bested conference foes Winona State and Gustavus Adolphus in the annual show of the only four college women's gymnastics team in the state. HU was second to D-I Gophers on the Uneven Parallel Bars, the Balance Beam and the Floor Exercise. The Pipers placed third on the Vault.
Darby Slater had the top individual finish, scoring a 9.575 to place seventh in the Floor Exercise.
Nikki Johnsen was eighth on the Balance Beam (9.525) while
Kelsey Ranneklev (9.200) on the Uneven Parallel Bars and
Rosie Giese (9.425) on the Vault earned 10th place finishes.
Hamline will see more D-I competition January 26 when they head to a meet at Brown University.
The Pipers return to conference action on Friday, January 18 with a meet at Wis-La Crosse. The action begins at 6:30 p.m.
