Box Score Hamline's softball team rallied and grabbed a lead but dropped a 5-4, 10 inning decision to St. Catherine Wednesday on the latter's field. The second game of the doubleheader was halted in the fourth inning with the game tied at 4 and will be completed at a later date.
HU trailed SCU, 3-0, in the fifth inning when
Anna O'Connor singled for her second hit of the game.
Megan Rubbelke then launched her second home run of the season to get the Pipers within a run.
Kira Krueger followed with a home run that knotted the game at 3.
It stayed that way until the third extra frame.
Alex Molloy walked with the bases loaded to force in a run and give the Pipers a 4-3 lead. But the Wildcats snapped right back and scored twice for the win.
The second game was stopped due to darkness after three and a half innings and will be finished at a later date.
Hamline is 8-11 overall, 1-2 in MIAC play. Weather permitting, the Pipers will open the Meredith Field portion of their schedule on Thursday, April 4 against St. Thomas at 3:30 p.m.
