It was a two-fer for the Hamline women's tennis team Saturday night at Baseline Tennis Center. The Pipers got back to the .500 mark with an 8-8 overall standard and won their first MIAC match of the season in the process with a 5-4 decision over Macalester.
Ali Kopiecki,
Courtney Fenech and
Megan Anderson (pictured) were on the winning side twice each as HU edged their southern Snelling Ave. neighbors for the first time since 2016.
Kopiecki swept to victory in No. 1 singles in convincing style with a pair of 6-2 wins. Fenech was even tougher to handle at No. 2 with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Anderson fought her way to pair of close wins at No. 6, taking things by 6-4, 7-5 scores.
In doubles, the No. 1 pairing of Fenech and
Natalie Pieterick and the No. 2 grouping of Anderson-Kopiecki won their matches by the same tight count: 8-6.
The Piper will look to pass the .500 barrier and two straight conference triumphs when they take on Concordia April 14.
