And a senior shall lead them. Fernando Benitez opened his final Hamline men's cross country season on a great note, finishing fifth in a field of 220 runners in a meet in Northfield Saturday. Benitez ran the 8K race in 26:09.1, 45 seconds behind the first place finisher.

Frank Gustafson was 28th in 26:58.4. Aric Brodie also finished in the top 100, placing 82nd (28:15.3). Newcomer Nehemiah Gaim also cracked the first 100, placing 97th (28:33.9). Ben Roen rounded out the Hu contingent with a 107th place showing (28:47.3).

The Pipers finished in ninth place in the 16 team field with 254 points.
