ST. PAUL, Minn. - In their second meet of the season, the Hamline gymnastics team fell to UW-La Crosse by a score of 186.825-182.550. The Pipers had seven gymnasts record scores in the top-five in the meet and improved their team overall score by almost two full points from their season-opener.

HU compiled its highest score of the meet on vault, earning 46.425 points. Senior
Caitlin Cooper and first year
Madeline Sowinski had the team's highest marks on this event, each scoring a 9.425, which put them in a tie for fourth. UW-La Crosse's Audrey Kaufman won the event with a score of 9.600.

On the uneven parallel bars it was junior
Mary Kelly who had Hamline's best score with a 9.175 which was good for a third-place finish. Sophomore
Carolina Schlawiedt placed fourth in the event with a score of 9.075. Kerrie Legault from UW-La Crosse had the top score with a 9.550.

In addition to her fourth place finish on vault, Sowinski also put forth a solid effort on the balance beam, scoring a 9.600 to put her in second place. This was Hamline's highest individual score on the beam so far this season. The Eagles' Jessica Ahrens won the event with a score of 9.750.

Sowinski competed in the all-around in the meet, finishing with 36.700 points for third place.

In their final event, the floor exercise, the Pipers recorded their second-highest score with 45.875 points. HU was led by sophomore
Katie Viles in the event, who scored a 9.350 for third place. First year
Tisana Lowe also finished in the top-five, tying for fifth with a score of 9.225. Emma Grant of UW-La Crosse took first on floor with a score of 9.425.

The Pipers will have their final home meet of the season on Friday, January 24 when they will host Gustavus in Walker Field House for a 6:30 p.m. meet.
