Senior Spotlight: Maya Hernandez

Despite having their seasons cut short, the Hamline athletic department would like to recognize and honor the 2020 senior spring class of student-athletes. These 37 individuals have made a lasting impact on their program and the Hamline campus as a whole. Every day for the next few weeks, please check back to this page as a new senior will be added each day.

What were you most looking forward to for this spring season?
I was looking forward to working to win another conference championship with my teammates, fun bus rides, and all of the team bonding.

What is one of your favorite memories of your time at Hamline?
Every year we have a lacrosse Olympics where we dress up as different countries and play games for points and have an awards ceremony at the end. It's always super fun to dress up and compete!

Who is someone that has had a positive impact on you during your time as a student-athlete?
Coach K has made such an impact on my whole time at Hamline. From taking me in when I transferred to being there for us when the season ended, she is always there to support us.

What is your advice for your younger teammates?
Enjoy every minute! Four years go by fast and the friends you make in athletics will be with you through thick and thin.

What are you most proud of about your career as a student-athlete?
I am most proud of helping build collegiate lacrosse in Minnesota through teaching younger athletes and setting an example of the accomplishments a team can achieve in a short amount of time.
