ST. PAUL, Minn. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced the 2021 All-Region Teams, with five Hamline student-athletes earning the honor.

To qualify, the student-athlete must be within the top-five in the region in their respective event.

For the men's team, senior Joe Martin garnered All-Region recognition with the top shot put distance in the Central Region, at 17.20 meters. This distance also ranks sixth in the country and qualified him for the NCAA Championship meet that will take place later this week in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The women's team had four honorees. Junior Jenneel Rodney ranked third in the region in the hammer throw with a distance of 53.24 meters. Rodney recorded this distance, which is a new school record, on her way to a conference championship last week at the MIAC Outdoor Meet. Senior Helen Dolan ranks third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:56.99, which is also a school record.

In the 800-meter run, junior Alexandra Maddux ranks second in the Central Region with a time of 2:12.68. Senior Abigail Van Goethem was the final Piper to earn the honor, ranking fifth in the javelin with a distance of 40.07 meters.

In addition to the All-Region nod, Martin, Rodney, Maddux, and Dolan all qualified for the NCAA Championship Meet. Maddux will compete on Friday, May 28, with the other three competing on Saturday, May 29.
