RESULTS
SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University gymnastics team's second home meet of the season pitted them in a WIAC Triangular against UW-Whitewater and Gustavus Adolphus at Walker Fieldhouse on Friday night. The Pipers registered a second-place score of 181.550, just under four points shy of UW-Whitewater's first-place tally of 185.025. Gustavus Adolphus came in third place with a 172.250.
The Pipers edged the Gusties and Warhawks in both the balance beam (44.875) and floor exercise (46.875). Madeline Sowinski played a huge role in that was she registered first-place scores in the balance beam (9.575), and floor exercise (9.675). The balance beam saw Savannah Tafolla notch fourth place with a 9.125, while Emily Anderson kept the fourth-place trend alive in the floor exercise with a 9.550.
The vault resulted in a fifth-place score of 9.325 for Nikki Johnsen, who was tied with two other competitors in the event. Carolina Schlawiedt commanded Hamline in the uneven parallel bars with a sixth-place mark of 9.200, followed by Sowinski in eighth place with a 9.100.
The Pipers will travel to UW-Oshkosh for a dual on Friday, February 4 for a 6 p.m. start time.
