SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University gymnastics team hosted UW-Stout in their 2022 home finale at the Walker FIeldhouse on Friday night. The Pipers notched second place with a score of 182.500, while the Blue Devils took the win with 187.400 points as they occupied the top three spots on the podium in the vault, balance beam, and uneven parallel bars.
The floor exercise was Hamline's strongest event, as they claimed second place courtesy of Danielle Jaworski (9.575) and Madeline Sowinski (9.575).
Bailee Davis paced the Pipers in the vault with a fourth-place mark of 9.400, followed by Jaworski in fifth with a 9.350. Sowinski and Jaworski locked in a tie for fourth in the uneven parallel bars with a 9.150. Hamline also notched fourth and fifth in the balance beam behind Madison Lieurance (9.500) and Sowinski (9.475). Nikki Johnsen tallied a 33.875 as the lone all-around competitor.
The Pipers will travel to Eau Claire, Wisconsin for a WIAC Quadrangular against the host Blugolds, Winona State, and UW-Whitewater on Friday, February 18 at 6 p.m.
