SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University track & field teams opened their 2023 indoor season at the St. Thomas Invitational on Friday.
The women were led by Jen Valley's first-place leap of 5.33m in the long jump. Madison Reed kept that momentum going in the field events as she registered third place in the weight throw with a 13.97m. Lindsey Bernardy highlighted the Pipers runners with a ninth-place time of 28.53 in the 200 meter dash.
For the men, Michael Braun registered pair of third-place marks in the high jump (1.92m) and long jump (6.47m). Oliver Engstrom prevailed in the pole vault, where he notched second place with a 3.65m. Reece Thomas commanded the runners with a fifth-place time of 24.43Â in the 200 meter dash.
The Pipers will return to action at the Macalester Vanessa Seljeskog Classic on Saturday, January 21.
