Pipers Open 2023 Season at Best of Minnesota Quadrangular

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.—The Hamline University gymnastics team opened their 2023 season at the University of Minnesota "Best of Minnesota" Quadrangular on Friday night. The Pipers took fourth place with 179.675 points.

Hamline's top performance occurred in the floor exercise, where Danielle Jaworski was the best NCAA Division III finisher with a sixth-place score of 9.675. Freshman phenom Laurel Raymond was stellar in her first collegiate meet with a 9.475 in the vault, good enough for 12th place. She built on that momentum in the balance beam with an eighth-place mark of 9.250. Julia Cheely followed Raymond in the beam with a 9.200, good enough for ninth place.

The bars resulted in a seventh-place score of 9.125 for Lily Ramsdell, the top NCAA Division III finisher in the event.

The Pipers will host first-year program Simpson, and Winona State in a triangular at Walker Fieldhouse on Sunday, January 8 at 3 p.m.
