DAY ONE RESULTS
SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University track & field teams made the short trip down Snelling Avenue to compete on day two of the 2023 MIAC Indoor Championship at Macalester College on Saturday. The women are tied with St. Scholastica and Augsburg for eighth place with 14 points, while the men are in sole possession of eighth place with 22 points. Bethel sits atop the men's (81.5) and women's (71) team standings through day two.
Michael Braun led all competitors in the men's high jump, where he claimed a conference title with a leap of 1.92m. Braun kept the stellar marks coming with a 6.50m in the long jump, good enough for third place.
Joshua Thomsen crossed the finish line at 8.36 in the 60 meter hurdle prelims, which secured him third place and a spot in the finals. Fourth place was in the cards for Thomsen in the finals, where he clocked in an 8.45.
Alexandra Maddux took home hardware for the women in the 800 meter run, where she claimed the conference title with a 2:14.85. It was another day at the office for Lindsey Bernardy, who registered a ninth-place time of 1:02.10 in the 400 meter run. Grace Pierson cleared the bar at 2.75m in the pole vault, which put her in seventh place.
Lexi Brainer prevailed with an eighth-place toss of 14.02m in the weight throw.
The Pipers will partake in day two of the MIAC Indoor Championship tomorrow, Sunday, February 26 at 10 a.m.
