Men and Women Earn 2023 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, Maddux Named All-Academic Athlete

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University track & field teams, and fifth-year distance runner Alexandra Maddux pulled down academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Both the men's (3.1 GPA) and women's (3.6 GPA) programs earned 2023 USTFCCCA NCAA Division III All-Academic Team distinction. To be eligible for this honor, the cumulative team GPA of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter.

In addition, fifth-year distance runner Alexandra Maddux earned 2023 USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field All-Academic Athlete. This is Maddux's fourth USTFCCCA Track & Field All-Academic Athlete award, as she also earned the distinction in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

To be named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete, an individual must meet the following criteria:

-Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period.

-Graduate students must take all undergraduate plus graduate coursework into account.

-Meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must have finished the indoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible.
  • Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who participated in the relay at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
