In Memoriam: Al Frost Jr.

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—Hamline University is mourning the recent loss of Al Frost Jr. '67, a four-year student athlete from 1963-64 - 1966-67

Frost Jr., a 1978 inductee into the Hamline University Hall of Fame, lettered in both basketball and football. He burst onto the scene for the Pipers men's basketball program in 1963-64 with 17 points per game. Frost Jr.'s game blossomed to a single-season school record 695 points (29.1 per game) as a senior in 1966-67. His 19.8 points per game and 455 free throws made are both Hamline career records, while his 1704 points and 622 field goals made each rank fourth in school history.

A multi-sport athlete, Frost Jr. was a member of the 1966 MIAC Championship Football Team. 

Frost Jr., who earned a spot on the Hutton Row of Honor located in the northwest corner of the arena, graduated from Hamline with bachelor's degrees in economics and business, as well as master's degrees in teaching and school administration. 

Frost Jr.'s memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Park Avenue United Methodist Church, located at 3400 Park Avenue in South Minneapolis. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the funeral at 10 a.m. He will be cremated.
