SAINT PAUL, MINN.—Hamline University head men's soccer coach Tyler Oliver has announced his resignation. Oliver has accepted the position of head men's soccer coach at Gustavus Adolphus College.
"Serving as the head coach at Hamline University the last two years has been an incredible honor," said Oliver. "We have set numerous program records over my time here which is a testament to all of the players, staff, administration, and alumni who made that possible. I would like to thank Jason Verdugo for giving me this great opportunity, and Alex Focke for his incredible mentorship and guidance over my time here. "
The Pipers accumulated a 22-12-3 record through Oliver's two seasons at the helm. This includes a 2024 season that ended with a program record in single-season wins with a 14-6 record. Under Oliver's watch, the Pipers amassed back-to-back MIAC Rookie of the Year awards, and five MIAC All-Conference selections. HU's three MIAC All-Conference selections in 2024 were the most since 2005, while their two United Soccer Coaches All-Region nods were the first since 2018.Â
The 2024 season also resulted in individual benchmarks that include the program's single-season assist record holder in Ryder Tomlinson Sterud (10). Ricky Kwabena Yawson's 31 points and 13 goals in 2024 were each one shy of tying the school record.Â
"Thank you to all of the administration and coaches in the department who helped me along the way," said Oliver. "To the current and past players and staff, thank you so much for giving everything you had to give to allow us to be successful. The program is bigger than one person and I look forward to seeing it grow under new leadership. Proud to be able to say I am leaving this program better than I found it and that is all we can aspire to do." #RollPipesÂ
