SAINT PAUL, MINN.— Hamline University has hired Colin Schuetz as the first full-time assistant baseball coach in program history.
As a player in our program, Colin was very reliable and a fantastic leader," said Pipers head baseball coach Jim Weyandt. "Colin will be taking on a lot of responsibility and I'm confident he will do a great job. He will coach our JV games, coach third base during varsity competition, work with all outfielders in our program, and take on a significant role with recruiting. It was a joy to coach Colin for four years, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him develop in his role as a coach."
Schuetz joined the coaching staff fresh off an incredible four-year playing career with the Hamline baseball program as an outfielder. Over 99 career games played, the Milton, Wisconsin native accumulated 53 hits, 35 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 19 RBI, and 17 walks. He accumulated a .952 fielding percentage and 114 putouts in the outfield. As a senior, Schuetz was an athletic department intern, assisting in game day operations, among other administrative duties.
Schuetz obtained his bachelor's degree in business administration from Hamline University in May 2024.
"I'm ecstatic to return to Hamline and be able to work for the baseball program," said Schuetz. "I want to especially thank Jim Weyandt, Alex Focke, Beth Rittler, and Chris Hartman not only for this opportunity, but for creating an environment that I did not want to walk away from after graduation. I learned many valuable life lessons, made great memories, and met great people during my time as a student-athlete at Hamline. I am looking forward to being able to pass along all of those experiences with as many student-athletes as possible in my new role here. Go Pipers."
