Women's Tennis Stacks Wins in Saint Peter

Saint Peter, Minn. - The Hamline University women's tennis team concluded a busy and successful weekend with strong individual performances at both the ITA Midwest Regional and the Gustie Invite, showcasing a promising mix of veteran grit and freshman talent.

At the competitive ITA Midwest Regional, which brings together the best Division III tennis players from across the Midwest, Vanessa Pham locked in an impressive first-round victory with a dominant 7-5, 6-0 win.

The Gustie Invite saw the Pipers' momentum become contagious, as the women put on a terrific team showing with multiple players making deep runs in their respective draws. First-year Shayla Draper made a memorable debut, attacking her way through the competition to win her draw outright. She demonstrated grit and resilience throughout a two-day marathon, securing match wins of 8-6, 8-1, and 8-3 before clinching the final with a thrilling 8-7 victory.

Senior Chloe Reyes also had a standout tournament, battling her way to another draw finals appearance after accumulating wins of 8-0, 8-7, and 8-2 before falling to the eventual draw champion. Senior Christine Muller also had a strong performance, reaching the quarterfinals with match wins of 8-4 and 8-5. Sophomore Emily Dreger rounded out the team's success with a solid 8-6 win in her first round.

The Pipers will now prepare to face the Carleton Knights in a MIAC Dual in two weeks.
