SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The Hamline University women's gymnastics team opened their season with a dual meet against Simpson college at home in Walker Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon.
The Pipers fell to Simpson in the dual meet at home, scoring 176.475 to Simpson's 186.600 team score.
Hamline began the first rotation on vault, with top performer Sydney Stoenner leading the Pipers with a score of 9.250 for a 6th place finish. Cailey Price and Laurel Raymond tied for 7th with scores of 9.225.
In the second rotation for the Pipers on bars, Carly Banta placed third overall with a score of 9.075. Clara Gilles scored an 8.575 for a 7th place finish.
At beam for the third rotation, Banta continued her success with a second place finish, scoring 9.575 and the highest mark of the day for the Pipers. Emma Witterstaetter scored 9.350 to place fifth.
In the final rotation on floor, Ryle Foldhazi scored a 9.475 to tie for second place. With a score of 9.100,
Lizzie Green tied for 9th.
The Pipers will compete next at UW-Oshkosh on Thursday, January 15 at 6 PM.
