MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Hamline University cross country teams opened their 2026 seasons Friday night at the Dragon Twilight Invitational, hosted by MSU Moorhead at Nemzek Stadium.

Women

The Piper women finished sixth out of seven scored teams in the Randy Smith 5,000-meter race.

Senior Anabel Bradley led Hamline, taking 32nd overall in 21:02.6. Fellow senior Brooke Baumann followed in 38th (21:22.1), and junior Tessa Meyers turned in the highlight of the night for the Piper women, running a personal-best 21:43.8 to place 47th and round out Hamline's top three.

Junior Briyanna Burkhardt (23:02.2, 61st) and senior Savannah Janes (25:13.6, 74th) completed Hamline's scoring five.

Also running for the Pipers were junior Lilli Carpentier (26:30.5, 79th), freshman Grace Laszlo (26:38.4, 80th), senior Tatiana Otero-Ortiz (27:01.7, 82nd), junior Deliah Neria (28:13.2, 84th) and senior Adrienne Karpen (30:30.5, 86th).

North Dakota won the women's team title, followed by Concordia-Moorhead, MSU Moorhead, Crown, Bemidji State, Hamline and Minnesota Morris.

Men

In the Fred Dahnke 6,000-meter race, sophomore Jayden Rentz paced the Piper men, crossing in 20:52.8 for 85th place overall.

Freshman Vaughn Watts was next for Hamline in 96th (21:35.4), followed by freshman Hunter Heinz in 108th (22:08.7).

Senior Jasper Roetter Gresback (24:28.9, 122nd) and sophomore Aye Roh Htoo (25:40.7, 125th) rounded out the Piper scoring five.

North Dakota's Louis-Lys Fanucchi won the men's individual title in 17:33.9, with North Dakota also taking the men's team crown.

Both Hamline squads return to action Sept. 12 for the Alumni 2 Mile Time Trial at Klas Field in St. Paul.
