Travis Jacobson is off to a very good start in the outdoor track and field season. In the season lidlifter at St. John's, he won the hammer competition with a throw of 162-1. He went ever farther last Saturday at HU Invite, throwing 170-7. He finished fourth overall but trailed just one D-III thrower. His effort is the best by any MIAC competitor ans ranks No. 17 among all D-III throwers so far this spring.

Jacobson did even better in the Shot Put Saturday, throwing 55-4.75 to finish second (trailing a D-I thrower). That is easily the best effort by any MIACer and ranks No. 7 in the country at this stage of the season.  (Teammate Chase Duwenhoegger is close behind at 54-4.)

With a month to go before Hamline hosts the MIAC Track/Field Meet at Klas Field, Jacobson has plenty of time to upgrade these numbers. The Pipers return to Collegeville this Saturday for a meet at St. John's.
