The first 70 degree day of the spring brought out the best in men's tennis player Mark Johnson. The freshman won three matches last Saturday for the Pipers, who split a pair of matches. HU defeated Concordia, 7-2 and later lost an 8-1 decision to Wis-Eau Claire.

Johnson started his day teaming up with Cody Jahrig for an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles against the Cobbers. Later, he had to work overtime for a win at No. singles. After dropping a 7-6 first set, Johnson rallied for a 6-4 win  and then a 10-8 win in the tiebreaking set.

It was another tight victorious squeeze later in the day when the Hudson, Wis. native scored a pair of 6-4 wins in No. 4 singles against the Blugolds. Overall, he is 7-5  as a singles player in his first college season. The Pipers, who are 6-8 overall, entertain Minn-Morris on Friday, April 13 at Holt Courts. The match begins at 2:00 p.m.
