So what does
Jessica Putland do for an encore?
Â
The junior got the outdoor track and field season off to a soaring start with a victory in the Shot Put in the Ross & Sharon Irwin Meet at Nazarene Point Loma College in California, March 22.
Â
Jessica threw 40 feet -- the 11th best showing nationally -- for the win. It was one of eight top 10 finishes for the Pipers, who finished sixth in the 21-team field with 163.5 points.Â
Â
TeammateÂ
Erin Urbanowicz was also busy in the field. She was third in the Discus (116'4") and her 127'2" showing was a close fourth to Putland (135'2") in the Hammer.Â
Â
Carolyn Saulsberry placed third in the Triple Jump (35'5"). She was also eighth in the 100 Hurdles and ninth in the Long Jump. (SisterÂ
Marolyn was 10th in the same race.)Â
