MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- The Hamline University track and field teams made the short trip to the University of Minnesota this week to compete in the
Gary Wilson Invitational, facing off against a deep field of competitors across all NCAA divisions. Despite some heavy wind readings on the straightaway, the Pipers turned in a performance defined by national-caliber marks and a steady stream of personal bests that signal the team is hitting its stride at exactly the right moment in the season.
Senior
Andrei Pettis delivered one of the standout performances of the meet in the men's 100m prelims. Aided by a +3.4 m/s wind, Pettis crossed the line in
10.75 seconds, a mark that currently slots him at
#96 in the nation for NCAA Division III. He was joined in the sub-11 club by sophomore
Manny Poscher, who clocked a
10.98 before turning around to secure a
9th place finish in the open 400m with a time of
50.77. On the women's side, the Pipers' speed was on full display during the
4x100m relay, where the quartet of
Mabel Badejo, Jaz Turnbaugh, Alexi Schneider, and Claire Siems scorched the track for a
2nd place finish. Their time of
49.32 stands as a new season best and cements their status as a major threat in the conference. Individual sprint efforts from
Claire Siems (12.42) and
Alexi Schneider (12.52) further highlighted a strong day for the Hamline short-sprint contingent.
In the middle-distance events, junior
Anabel Bradley led the charge for the women with a savvy performance in the 800m. Her time of
2:19.67 was good for
15th overall and marked a new season best. She was followed by teammate
Tessa Meyers, who notched a personal best of
2:34.01. The hurdles saw junior
Morris Suah continue his consistent campaign, clocking a
15.13 in the 110m hurdles to finish
14th. In the longer hurdles, sophomore
Maddox Moses found another gear to set a new personal best of
1:03.49 in the 400m hurdles. The distance crew also saw a major milestone from
Deliah Neria, who shaved significant time off her 3000m steeplechase to finish with a personal best of
14:22.70.
The field events were anchored by junior
Austin Schloeder, who continues to be a force in the pole vault. Schloeder cleared
4.73m (15-06.25) to take home aÂ
2nd place finish. In the horizontal jumps, sophomore
Isaiah Watson led the men's long jump group with a leap of
6.70m, while freshman
Mabel Badejo translated her relay speed into the pits, taking
12th place in the women's long jump with a mark of
5.38m. These performances, combined with
Alicia Maddux's strong
13th place finish in the 1500m (
5:10.24), showcased the depth of the Piper roster across all disciplines.
