Box Score Neither intermittent snow nor cold could stop Hamline's women's soccer seniors from enjoying their last game at Paterson Field. The Pipers struck early against Bethel and kept up the pressure all day en route to a 3-0 victory in their final home game of the 2015 season.
Before the game,
Brook Pigg, Keanna Mienert (pictured) and
Aubrey Stenson were honored for their four years of dedication and play for the Pipers.
It took just 50 seconds for the Pipers to unleash a flurry of activity in front of the Bethel net. Pigg, taking advantage of getting the chance to start, fed
Arendje Louter, who unloaded her team leading sixth goal of the season to give the Pipers an edge they would hold all day. Mienert picked up a rebound and deposited it into the net atb 18:55 to make it 2-0.
HU kept the pressure up on the Royals the rest of the half, holding the visitors to just one shot. 10 minutes into the second half,
Mackenzie Zink spied
Alicia Williams breaking down the right side. Williams took it from there for her third goal of the year to wrap up the scoring. GK
Amy Ramras took it from there, batting away five shots for her school record 11th shutout of her career ... and her third this season. Ramras, a junior, also moved into first place among HU goaltenders with a career save percentage of .833.
It made for a warm feeling for the Pipers, who improved to 5-10-1 on the season, 2-7-1 in the MIAC. HU finishes the year Saturday at Gustavus Adolphus. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
