Saulsberry, Gallagher Score Wins at HU Twilight Meet

4/22/2015 9:19:00 PM

Carolyn Saulsberry and Mariah Gallagher recorded victories for the HU Women's Track & Field Meet on a windy day at the annual HU Twilight Meet at Klas Field Wednesday.

The meet was nonscoring but the Pipers still made big impressions with a dozen top five finishes in a 12 team field that included Division I Minnesota and Division II schools. Saulsberry soared past the field in the Long Jump, winning with a 16-10.00 effort. She also was second in the 100 Meter Hurdles (15.29). Gallagher, a freshman, showed her stamina with a winning 19:43.37 performance in the 5000 Meters.

HU received a second place effort from Merina Lenz in the Triple Jump (33-04.50). A pair of relay teams (4 x 100 and 4 x 400) took third in their respective races. Mikayla Hensch was fourth in the 100 Meters (13.09), edging out teammate Khadijah Pierce (13.16). Kristy Dellwo (400 meters, 1:02.65) and Erin Urbanowicz (Shot Put, 42-0) had fourth place finishes. Urbanowicz was the top D-III thrower in her event.

Andrea Haus (1500 meters, 5:02.91) and Sophia Salmanpour (400 Hurdles, 1:11.05) came in fifth in their respective events.
