M Hockey Drops Tight One To Tommies

10/29/2017 7:36:00 PM

Box Score It was a great start but it didn't hold up. Russ Jordan and Drake Hunter gave Hamline's men's hockey team an early lead but St. Thomas rallied for a 3-2 win at the MIAC Showcase in Blaine Sunday.

Jordan, who led the MIAC in goals and points last year, scored his second goal in as many games to offset an early UST goal and tie the game at 1. Hunter then untied it when he knocked the rebound of a Tommy Hall shot home at 19:22 and HU led 2-1 after a period.

That was all the offense the Pipers could muster. UST tied the game in the second period on a power play and scored the winner with 2:53 to play in the third period. Justin Quale recorded 27 saves in goal for the Pipers, who are now 1-1 on the season.

Hamline is on the road next weekend with games at Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Friday, November 3 and Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, November 4. Both games start at 7:00 p.m. They open the MIAC season November 10 at St. John's.
