Koel, Berninghaus Pace Piper Women to 6th Place Finish

Gabby Koel took second place in the Shot Put and Briana Berninghaus was fourth in the 200 Meters to highlight Hamline's women's track/field team's sixth place finish at the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the University of St. Thomas Saturday. Koel, a senior, threw 39-6.50, two feet behind the first place finisher. Jessie Jueneman and Miranda Janssen -- both freshmen -- placed seventh and eighth in the same event.
 
Berninghaus, also a freshman, ran a speedy 26.01 -- a school record-- in the 200 Meters. HU also got points from a pair of fifth place relay teams. The 200 quartet of Gabrielle Brown, Izzy Shafer, Mikayla Hensch and Berninghaus ran 1:47.33 in the 4 x 200 and the foursome of Shafer, Kristy Dellwo, Abigail Van Goethem and Marisa Fiecke closed in at 4:07.50 in the 4 x 400 race. Van Goethem also earned HU a point with an eighth place finish in the Long Jump (16-8/75).

As a team, Hamline totaled 67.33 points.
