Box Score He scored two goals that counted on the scoresheet. A goal that won't appear on the stats turned out to be more important.

Russ Jordan pushed his MIAC league leading goal scoring total to 17 with a pair of goals Friday night against Augsburg at Oscar Johnson Arena in what officially is listed as a 4-4 OT tie. His goal, however, in the shootout that followed clinched matters for HU, which earned the extra point . Brandon Wahlin also netted one in that shootout, the second one this season between the two teams.

By gaining two points for the shootout win, Hamline now has 14 and is just one behind co-league leaders Augsburg and St. Thomas.

After a tight, scoreless first period, it became a wide open, free wheeling affair.  The Pipers struck first with Parsa Monsef and Jordan clicking 49 seconds apart in the second period.  Jake O'Borsky continued to wield a hot stick with his fifth goal and HU looked in charge with a 3-0 lead.

The Auggies scored late in that period to make it 3-1 and Nate Flynn stalemated the game with two goals 52 seconds apart early in the third frame. Jordan's second of the night on a power play at 15:23 gave Hamline a 4-3 lead. It didn't last for long as Augsburg struck at 17:12 to force overtime. In the extra session, Augsburg had a power play and came very close only to have HU goalie Justin Quale keep them at bay. He made two big saves in that overtime and finished the night with 31.

The teams had opened the season against each other with a shootout in the MIAC tournament that the Auggies won, 2-0. This time, Wahlin scored first. Trevor Stewart missed for Augsburg. Jordan did not, slipping the puck into the far corner of the net and when Quale stopped Flynn, the Pipers had the hard fought extra point in the season's eighth overtime game.

The teams will go at it again Saturday night at Augsburg Arena. Game time is 7:00 p..m.
