Balanced Attack Propel Piper Lacrosse Team Past Aurora

Box Score It's what coaches often strive for. Seven different players found the back of the net Sunday for the Hamline  women's lacrosse team -- and the balance result played a key role in a 10-7 win over Aurora at Klas Field. Kalley Elwell, Dani Perry (22) and Lexus Tatge scored twice with Radian Lenz, Sydney Dynneson, Brayden Maass and Dana Almquist providing solo markers as Hamline moved into fourth place in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference with a 4-1 league standard. HU stands 6-2 overall and kept their Klas Field history perfect  in the process.

The Pipers have won all 10 games played on their home field in their two year history.

The Spartans came in unbeaten in MWLC play. The Pipers knocked them on their heels early, jumping to a 3-0 in the first six minutes of play. Aurora came right back with the next three tallies. The give and take continued the rest of the half with the Spartans scoring with four seconds remaining to forge a 5-5 deadlock at halftime.

Almquist, who tied a school record with eight goals Saturday in a win over Benedictine, broke the tie on a feed from Tatge 64 seconds into the second session. Lenz followed ten minutes later and Perry scored her first of two on a free position shot with 10:06 to make it 8-5. The Spartans responded a minute later to make it 8-6 but Perry and Elwell (who became the third Piper this season to reach double figures in goals) connected for their second netters of the day to seal the deal.

Molly Dionne had seven saves in goal for HU to earn the win.

Hamline remains home next weekend as well. On Saturday, April 1, they welcome Wartburg (3-4 overall, 1-3 MWLC) for a 7:30 p.m.  On Sunday, April 2, it's Loras (5-4, 1-3 MWLC) who will provide the opposition for a 12:00 p.m. start.
