Late First Half Blitz Leads Lacrosse Past Knights

4/1/2017 9:30:00 PM

Box Score For a brief moment Saturday night, Hamline's 10-game winning streak in lacrosse at Klas Field looked in jeopardy. HU had jumped to a 3-0 lead over Wartburg but the Knights scored twice in 47 seconds and appeared to be gaining momentum.

Lindsey Jackman, however, the turned the tide the other way to make it 4-2 and HU followed her lead with six more goals before halftime and proceeded to take a 14-4 decision to make it 11 wins in a row without a loss at Klas in the two year history of the sport.

Dana Almquist led the way with five goals with Alicia Monserrate Novotny (pictured) following up with three. Jackman and Sydney Dynneson added two each to improve the Pipers' 2017 standard to 7-2 overall. Radian Lenz and Lexus Tatge also scored for  the Pipers. Hamline is 5-1 in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play and is now tied with Beloit for third place.

Almquist, who tied for second in the MWLC in goals with 36, did most of her damage in the first half. She added a solo in the second session as the Pipers, knowing they have another game to play in 15 hours, eased off the pedal slightly in the second half.

Molly Dionne had 10 saves in goal to lower her goals-against average to 7.18. Her 56 goals allowed is the fewest among all MWLC regular tenders. The goals-against average ranks third among all regulars.

The Pipers have little time to revel in this game. They face Loras (5-5, 1-4 MWLC) Sunday at Klas Field at noon.
