Box Score Radian Lenz and
Brayden Maass found a way to stay warm on a cold night. The pair each scored four goals to lead Hamline's women's lacrosse team to a key 15-13 win over Concordia (WI) at Klas Field Friday night. The Pipers moved into first place by themselves in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference with a 4-0 record and evened their overall slate at 4-4.
As expected, the Falcons, who won the MWLC regular season title last year and are 3-1 in league play, made it difficult. CU jumped to leads of 2-0 and 3-1 before HU broke loose with six unanswered goals en route to a 8-4 halftime advantage. Lenz (7) netted three goals in the first 30 minutes with Maass and
Sydney Dynneson adding two apiece.
Dani Perry got the second half off to a good start with a goal but the Falcons responded with three goals in 95 seconds to cut the lead to 9-7.
HU then turned up the heat with five straight goals for a 14-7 lead that looked safe. CU, however, had other ideas, responding with four goals to get back within 14-11 with six minutes to play.
Lexus Tatge, who had three assists in the game, then put in a dagger with five minutes to play and the Pipers held off the Falcons for the win.
Molly Dionne recorded 10 saves in goal for Hamline.
The Pipers, who lead the MWLC with 98 goals scored, are off until Thursday, April 5 when they welcome Southwestern (TX) to Klas for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game. The five-game homestand continues next weekend with MWLC games against Illinois Tech and Concordia (Ill.)
