Take a look at what Kuether had to say about his time at Hamline.

How did your Hamline experience prepare you for what you are doing now?
As a student at Hamline, the most essential skills that I learned was how to critically think and how to learn. During my time in college I realized how essential it is to look at one's experiences outside of the classroom as learning opportunities that are just as important as sitting through lectures and doing readings.

I was very privileged to have developed close relationships with many professors who I met with on a frequent basis to discuss many different sociological perspectives and teaching strategies, and this time proved to be critical in deepening my understanding of such topics. I still draw upon these experiences to assist in my role today.

Who was one of your favorite professors at Hamline?
There are too many to count! If I had to limit it down to a few, it'd be Ryan LeCount, Sharon Preves, Navid Mohseni, Jean Strait, and Patrick Hueller.

What is one of your favorite memories as a student-athlete?
During my time at Hamline, I missed a year of tennis when my son Maximus was born. At that time, I thought that my collegiate tennis career was over. Fortunately, I was able to come back to have an incredible senior year because of the support of my team.

Maximus was dubbed the mascot of Hamline Tennis and could always be seen on the sidelines during my matches decked out in Hamline gear. What was even cooler was seeing all of my teammates eager to hang out with him and play with him. To see a bunch of grown men excited to play action figures and tennis with a 2-year-old was incredible.

To this day I still am very close to some of the guys on my team. We still play in tennis leagues together, they've come to my son's birthday parties, and one them was even a groomsman at my wedding. Seeing the Hamline team take in my family as their own has to be my greatest memory.

What advice would you give to current student-athletes?
Learning in college is about more than just your classes. Learning is about meeting new people, trying new things, and having new experiences. You never know who out of your classmates is going to cross paths with you in the future, or maybe even set you up with a job! Make sure that you're caught up with your studies, but take time to experience the entirety of what Hamline has to offer through sports, clubs, and other activities.
