MANKATO, Minn. - On Friday afternoon, some of the Hamline women's throwers headed down to Mankato to take on some Division II competition at the Maverick Classic.

HU had their top-finisher in the shot put, as junior Alexandra Kolstad took fifth out of 13 with a mark in 12.73 meters.
 
The Pipers had two competitors in both the discus and the hammer throw. In the discus, senior Savana Keiser finished 12^th out of 22 competitors with a distance of 38.85 meters. First year Madison Reed was not far behind with a 15^th-place finish with a mark of 35.21 meters. Keiser and Reed were the top Division III finishers.
 
In the hammer throw, junior Madison Fiecke recorded an 11^th-place finish out of 26 throwers. Her toss reached 46.90 meters. Teammate Nyjah Willis placed 17^th with a distance of 39.02 meters.
 
The Hamline throwers, along with the rest of the track and field team, will compete next in the MIAC Championships, set for May 14 and 15.
