WINONA, MINN.—The Hamline University track & field teams embarked on day one the 2022 MIAC Outdoor Championship, hosted by Saint Mary's (Minn.), on Friday. The Pipers men are tied for 10th place with six points, while the women are in third place with 31 points.
Saint Benedict leads the women through day one with 39 points, and their counterpart Saint John's (Minn.) commands the men's standings with 62 points.
Jailyn Robinson set a facility record of 12.19 in the 100 meter dash preliminaries, good enough for first place.
First place was in the cards for the 4x800 meter relay team of Lindsey Bernardy, Lucy Hoelscher, Emma Mader, and Alexandra Maddux, as they registered a time of 9:17.62. It was another day at the office for Jenneel Rodney, who took second in the hammer throw with a 50.46m. Madison Reed followed Rodney with a sixth-place mark of 37.41m.
The second-place trend continued behind Maddux's 2:21.35 in the 800 meter run preliminaries, and Bernardy's 58.92 in the 400 meter dash prelims. Hoelscher followed Maddux with a fifth-place time of 2:22.60 in the 800 prelims.
Jen Valley converted a third-place leap of 5.43m in the long jump.
The men were led by Christian Velishek's third-place leap of 6.91m in the long jump.
Joshua Thomsen converted a fourth-place time of 55.34 in the 400 meter hurdle prelims, before he kept that momentum going with a sixth-place tally of 15.47 in the 110 meter hurdle prelims.
The Pipers will embark on day two of the MIAC Championship tomorrow, Saturday, May 14 in Winona, Minnesota.
