MIAC RELEASE
SAINT PAUL, MINN.—Hamline University senior forward Carson Simon has been named December 9 MIAC Men's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week. Simon is the first Piper to earn the MIAC weekly honor since January 15, 2024, when Maximillian Haselbacher landed defensive player of the week. The last Piper to claim MIAC Offensive Player of the Week was Sam Dabrowski on November 7, 2022.
December 9 MIAC Men's Hockey Players of the Week
Offensive: Carson Simon (Hamline)
Defensive: AJ Ruskowski (Saint Mary's)
Simon, a native of Elk River, Minnesota, registered his first career multi-goal outing in a 5-4 victory over St. Scholastica on December 6. He scored the game's first three goals which gave him a hat trick, and the Pipers a 3-0 lead at 14:49 of the first period. Simon assisted on Calvin Knight's game-winning goal at 19:22 of the third period that secured Hamline a 5-4 victory, and a four-point outing for himself. Throughout the two-game series against St. Scholastica, Simon accumulated 11 shots on goal and four face-offs won.
Simon leads the Pipers in scoring with six goals and four assists for 10 points. He also paces Hamline with 24 shots on goal through nine games played.
The Pipers will travel to Aurora for a weekend series on Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14. Both games will start at 3 p.m.
