Ricky Kwabena Yawson's Two School Records Highlight Pipers at Bethel Invitational

RESULTS

ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Hamline University track & field teams competed at the Bethel Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

MEN

The Pipers notched 19 career bests in the meet.

Ricky Kwabena Yawson's registered his first career outdoor school records with third-place times of 10.62 in the 100 meter dash, and 21.57 in the 200 meter dash. The previous record-holder in those events was Tom Larson in 2015. 

Kwabena Yawson, along with Dawson Schaffer, Reece Thomas, and Mickey Otis accumulated a 42.39 in the 4x100 meter relay, which put them in third place.

Austin Schloeder's championship-mark of 4.93m in the pole vault is a career-best, and placed him among the top 10 in NCAA Division III. 

Second place was in the cards for Isaiah Watson, who notched a 14.12m in the triple jump. He kept that momentum going with a third-place mark of 6.70m in the long jump, followed by Josiah Budiman's eighth-place leap of 6.40m. Austin Holt's career-best 41.44m in the discus put him in fifth place. Morris Suah crossed the finish line at 15.68 in the 100 meter hurdles, good enough for eighth place. 

WOMEN

The Pipers accumulated 14 career bests in the meet. 

Lexi Brainer's 11.75m in the shot put her in eighth place. Jade Hunt kept the eighth place trend alive with a 37.89m in the discus. 

Leading the distance group was Anabel Bradley, who crossed the finish line at 2:18.16 in the 800 meter run to claim ninth place.

The Pipers will compete at the Gustavus Gustie Twilight on Wednesday, April 16.
