There were some breight moments in the gloom of a chilly, windy, wet Wednesday at Holt Courts for the Hamlime men's tennis team.
The Pipers dropped a 9-0 decision to powerful St. Thomas but
Nathan Tretsven continued to offer hope for the future. The freshman battled UST's Brian McCarthy to a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles before eventually giving way, 2-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Earlier, Tretsven and
Sam Peterson gave the Tommies' No. 2 doubles team a solid run, forging a 6-5 lead before dropping the final three games. The Pipers (2-15 overall, 0-8 MIAC) have two more matches scheduled this week to wrap up the season. They will play at Bethel Thursday and finish up at Martin Luther Saturday.
