Derek Lutz provided the bright light for Hamline's men's tennis team in an 8-1 loss at Bethel Thursday. The Pine City, Minn. native rapped Kirby Ronning, 6-2, 6-2 for the Pipers' lone triumph at No. 3 singles.
Although the final score was lopsideds, the actual matches were not. The tandem of
Nathan Tretsven/Sam Peterson fell 8-6 in No. 2 doubles. Tretsven also lost a very competitive No. 2 singles match, 6-4, 6-4.
David Croonquist dropped a 6-3, 6-4 match at No. 1 singles.
Dylan Sperry lost his first set 7-5 in a two set loss at No. 5 singles.
Hamline, 2-15 overall, finishes the season at Martin Luther Saturday.
