Gabriel Guarin took his opponent to three sets in the Pipers' 9-0 men's tennis loss to St. Thomas Saturday at the U-Minnesota Courts. The junior, playing No. 4 singles, got the jump on Scott Wall with a 6-4 first set win. But Wall responded with a 6-2 second set win and claimed the tiebreaker by a 10-3 margin.

Matt Seracki, playing No. 3 singles, lost his first set by a tight 6-4 margin.

Guarin and teammate Sam Peterson (pictured) also put up stiff resistance in their No. 3 doubles match before giving way, 8-4.

The Pipers fell to 5-4 overall, 0-3 in the MIAC. They are off until Friday, March 18 when they head to Florida for five matches -- the first of which is against Nichols (4-2 with three matches scheduled in Florida before facing HU). The match will be played at the legendary IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
