4/7/2016 10:40:00 AM

It was quite a battle but Gabriel Guarin (pictured) eventually came out on top, rallying for a dramatic three set win for Hamline's men's tennis team Wednesday night. The junior shook off a 6-4 loss in the first set of his No. 4 singles match to win by a 6-3 margin. In the tiebreaker, Guarin took control and recorded a 10-4 triumph. It was one of the highlights of the day for the Pipers, who lost, 7-2, to Macalester in a match played in Lakeville.

HU also got a hard-fought win when the No. 3 doubles tandem of Ben Ekstein and Ben Klimek outlasted their foes for a 9-7 decision.

Hamline is 7-8 overall, 0-4 in the MIAC. They will play ont heir home surface -- Holt Courts -- for the first time this spring on Saturday, April 9 when they host Gustavus Adolphus in a 10:30 a.m. match.
