Box Score With the game on the line, Hamline men's soccer forward
Adam King took matters onto himself to lift his team to an important point. The sophomore bulled his way up the left side and ripped a 15 yarder into the net with 2:55 left in regulation time as Hamline and Augsburg played to a 1-1 double OT tie Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis.
HU improved to 8-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in MIAC play and is now 5-1-1 in its last seven games.
It was tough sledding all day for HU. The host Auggies grabbed the lead 18:47 into the game, outshooting the Pipers, 25-8, for the game.
Dean Isaacson played the first half in goal with
Malachy Zamacona handling the second half and the OT sessions. (In the latter periods, the sophomore was busy, making four saves.)
The Pipers hung in there with King getting the equalizer, his team leading sixth of the season. That is one more than he scored all of 2016. The California native had three total shots and continues to lead the MIAC with 45.Â
HU plays Bethel (3-7-2, 1-3-1 MIAC) on Wednesday, October 11. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
